Hi!

My name is Shannon, and I am a professional DONA trained birth doula and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator (LCCE) based in Berkeley County, WV. As a mother of four beautiful children, I see each pregnancy as a unique miracle and understand the importance of having effective labor support.

 

Through my own birthing experiences, I became passionate about all things birth. This led me to taking the first step in my birth work journey and becoming a doula. I took a DONA birth doula training through Graceful Fusion Birth and Death Studies. After taking my doula training, I was hooked and instantly became a birth nerd. I was thirsty for more birth knowledge, and so I attended a Childbirth Educator training and earned my LCCE certification. Since successfully completing my birth doula and childbirth educator trainings, I founded Mountain Mama Childbirth. The name "Mountain Mama" is in honor of my own dear mother who so loved this song by John Denver, and the fond childhood memories I have of listening to her sing it with her chest whenever she heard it on the radio.

Thirsty for more birth knowledge, I am excited to also announce that I will be attending a Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator training in May, 2023 and have this to add to my course offerings for parents as well!

It is with great honor and pleasure that I help women embark on their birthing journey gently through education, empowerment, and advocacy. During labor I also assist mothers with emotional as well as physical support by implementing comfort measures such as breathing exercises, relaxation techniques and aromatherapy. I live in Martinsburg, WV and my service area encompasses families of Berkeley County, WV and adjacent counties in the tri-state region, including Jefferson, Morgan, Frederick, and Washington counties.
